He then embraced the freedom of movement and cheap labour for business. Adopting the right to settle rather than the right to work encouraging far more European migrants. Meanwhile, successive governments bombed across the Middle East — Iraq, Libya, Syria — generating the very refugee flows that the right would weaponise.

Until the economic crash, you could forgive the British public for being angry, but then they voted for austerity, a supposed temporary measure that got a minority extremely wealthy at their expense. It's little wonder Brexit, the covid contracts, the Russian energy bills, Truss's budget all followed, as it was that same minority that had become addicted to exploiting public credulity. Farage's modus operandi is to protest and swell anger, but lend support to these great heists. 

Reform could probably be the governing party, but it will take it three full terms for it to govern the way it wants. The way Trump can at the moment. It will invoke the threat of civil unrest to intimidate both the courts and the Lords into compliance. Before they finally cave in, enough folk will concede that they've fallen for fake bite-size news on social media and voted badly over a protracted period. 

If only labour had the sense to keep children on social media but ban adults.
